TotalEnergies Launches Solar Station in Mbarara

TotalEnergies Uganda has officially launched a new solar-powered service station in Mbarara District. This development aligns with the company’s sustainability mission to promote clean and renewable energy. The station utilizes solar panels to power lighting, fuel pumps, and convenience stores. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 30% annually. This is part of a broader commitment to energy transition by TotalEnergies. The solar initiative will gradually expand to other service stations across the country. Local authorities have commended the project for supporting green energy in western Uganda. The Mbarara station will serve both retail customers and commercial fleets. TotalEnergies is working closely with engineers to ensure maintenance and efficiency. Solar output is expected to exceed 120 kWh per day at peak operation. The design incorporates battery storage to ensure 24/7 energy availability. Training has been provided to staff on solar energy management. The company plans to roll out educational programs in nearby schools. This includes awareness campaigns on renewable energy and climate change. Mbarara residents have expressed optimism over cleaner and more reliable services. The station also features eco-friendly car wash facilities. Customer loyalty programs will now include points for sustainable purchases. TotalEnergies Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to Uganda’s Vision 2040. The government praised the private sector’s role in sustainable development. More similar projects are expected in Gulu, Mbale, and Masaka in 2025.
